Zentangle Pumpkin

Description: For this project we used a drawing method called Zentangle to create a variety of patterns on our pumpkins. After listening to a story about pumpkins, we were taught how to draw a few differnt types of pumpkins and then we learned about Zentangle and how to create Zentangle art! By using the element of line to create sections, we broke the pumpkins up into multiple parts and filled them with many different patterns. This repeated use of different patters makes up the style of artwork known as Zentangle!

Extension Activity: I feel you could use Zentangle are in such a large variety of ways! Another seasonal way you could use this idea is to have students create a Zentangle Christmas tree or “winter tree” rather than a pumpkin. You could still read a story about the different trees and then teach kids how to draw an outline for evergreens. Students could then fill their trees with all sorts of Zentangle patterns and use Christmas colors to fill them in!
