Lego Stamp City
Description: For this activity we used legos to stamp paint onto paper as a way of learning about printmaking. This is done by taking a few different legos and pressing them into somewhat runny paint, and then stamping them onto paper. For this project, we were asked to use two different primary colors to make a city landscape with our lego stamps. Then, when we finished stamping we had to add at least one creative design element to each building. This could be as simple as adding doors and windows, or something more creative like making a hotel!
Extension Activity: Another idea is to create different vehicles using the lego stamping method. This could be used in the classroom if you are doing a unit on different types of transportation. Once kids have learned about different vehicles we use to move around the world, they could then create a lego stamp project of the vehicle of their choice. For example you could create; a car, train, dump truck, firetruck, etc. Students could then draw details on top of the lego stamp base made for each type of transportation!
